The South Carolina women posted a 36-1 record last season, losing to Iowa in a Final Four thriller.

The Gamecocks face the Tar Heels on the final night of the three-day showcase, Thursday, Nov. 30, in a month that also includes a game in Paris against Notre Dame (Nov. 6).

A woman who lost her husband, her mother, and two of her three children in a deadly tornado in Iowa earlier this month has opened up about the 'roller coaster of emotion' she has experienced in the past two weeks — and how her only surviving child is her 'rock.'  

They've captured the imaginations of sports fans around the country, but in particular in Jersey City and throughout the state of New Jersey. Their regional games being held in Philadelphia gave the Peacocks an unmistakable home-court advantage.

Kuri said the experience has reminded her of the importance of kindness, and she is grateful for the over-$554,000 in donations that have poured in on 'I know everybody says life is short but you just never know. You never know. It just reminded me to be kind,' she said.  

"Coach did a great job preparing us with the scout," said Daryl Banks III, who scored a team-high 14 points. "We knew their tendencies and what they did. We knew they were also going to go inside a lot with the height difference with us. But we just stuck to our defensive principles, executed when we needed to, and it worked out for us."

The tornado on March 5 was Iowa's deadliest since May 2008, when one tornado destroyed nearly 300 homes and killed nine people in the northern Iowa city of Parkersburg. Another tornado a month later killed four boys at the Little Sioux Boy Scout ranch in Western Iowa.

'My mom would always have her phone out and I'm like, "Mom, put your phone down. We're, just hanging out." But now I have all those memories, things we can look back at, and I am so thankful for that,' she said.

"This is unbelievable. Jersey City has been unbelievable for us. But I want to give a shout-out to our student-athletes and the whole student body. They're taking buses down here, they're doing videos, a watch party. It's been tremendous."

That speaks volumes considering the road North Carolina has forged to this point. The Tar Heels spoiled Mike Krzyzewski's final home game as the coach at Duke with a 94-81 stunner on March 5. It came as part of a prolonged stretch in which the Tar Heels have won 15 of 18 games, including taking down defending national champion Baylor in the tourney's second round.
