'Hopeful trend' as COVID-19 dip, but U.S. vaccine gaps remain...

WASHINGTON, April 23 (Reuters) - U.S. COVID-19 cases fell 10% over the past week, signaling a "hopeful trend" even as wide gaps in vaccination rates across the country have raised new concerns, the head of the U.S.

Centers for Disease and Prevention said on Friday.

The new documentary, which premiers Friday, includes interviews with players like Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr, not to mention Abdul-Rauf's former teammates Shaquille O'Neal (LSU) and Jalen Rose (Nuggets).

He raised eyebrows by converting to Islam as an NBA rookie with the Denver Nuggets in 1991, raised pulses when he changed his name in 1993, and by refusing to stand for the National Anthem in 1996, Abdul-Rauf raised hell.

Rapist Met police officer David Carrick is being investigated over an alleged sex attack when he was 13 and another five women have come forward since he was jailed - as his mother says she has no plans to visit him in prison.

Carrick, 48, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 30 years in February after carrying out a string of 'violent and brutal' sex attacks against at least a dozen women over more than two decades as a police officer.

As well as detailing their lives ahead of meeting each other in July 2016, the first three episodes of the series cover Harry's birth and upbringing, and he blames the media for the failure of his previous relationships.

"The only certainty I have is that Jan. 31," the official said, referring to the date when Britain leaves the EU's single market and customs union, leaving behind its current free trade arrangements with the 27-nation bloc.

The show opened with words written in white on a black background which said: 'This is a first-hand account of Harry & Meghan's story, told with never before seen personal archive.

All interviews were completed by August 2022. Members of the royal family declined to comment on the content within this series.'

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, speaking to reporters in a news briefing, said there were "unsettling gaps" in parts of the country where vaccination rates were low and could allow spikes in cases of the novel coronavirus and possibly more deaths.

'All the different cringey things I can call him as my husband… the great hu-bino, you know, the options are endless.' 'I'm really excited to come up with a bunch of husband nicknames for him,' she confessed.

The cake was two tiers of white buttercream decorated with greenery and florals to match the green color scheme. In another personal touch, they also used a cake topper that was from Wulfurt's grandparents' wedding in 1951.

'In terms of this country, white ownership of black bodies, they got a head start, and not paying taxes and not paying for labor, of human trafficking, there's so many things. So you want to now bring up the money issue with me?

Things didn't get any easier after Abdul-Rauf gave an interview to HBO's Real Sports in 2001, saying he believed the 9/11 attacks were an inside job and suggesting that the Israelis - and not Osama Bin Laden - orchestrated the plan.

Abdul-Rauf insists he has 'more right to be here' than his critics, who could easily get him to move by refunding his taxes: 'If you go talk to your friends in the government and tell them to give me my tax dollars back, I'll leave yesterday.

'So much is always going on in this country, and the world. But, in particular, with the situation that happened with Kaepernick, now you have a new generation of athletes, who are really becoming more vocal on a lot of different issues, whether it be LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, you name it.

'[My agent] said, ''Mahmoud is available, we're calling,'' and he said he cut him off immediately,' Abdul-Rauf remembered. '[Colangelo] said ''Hey, we're not interested.'' Verbatim: ''And it has nothing to do with his basketball.''

Furthermore, he strong disagrees with anyone telling basketball players to 'shut up and dribble.' Abdul-Rauf resents the perception that the country made him rich, thereby negating any criticism he may have.

Whereas Kaepernick parlayed his notoriety into the popular 'Know Your Rights' campaign — an effort to advance 'Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization,' according to its website —Abdul-Rauf didn't have any such infrastructure in place.

As Kaepernick figured, at 29, he would have another chance to play in the league, but that opportunity never came. And although the NFL later agreed to pay Kaepernick an undisclosed settlement over blackballing allegations, he would never play professional football again.
