Education Secretary says masks in the classroom 'inhibit learning'

Tencent Holdings Ltd - the country's largest firm by market value and its first big tech name to report earnings on Wednesday - is expected to post a 12% fall in quarterly profit, its first drop in two years, according to Refinitiv data.

Baidu, China's biggest search engine operator, is expected to report that quarterly profit plunged 80%, hurt by a slump in advertising revenue from tutoring centres that have been barred from offering private, for-profit tutoring on the school curriculum.

Mr Zahawi made the comments in response to a question about whether it was the right decision to remove the mandatory requirement of wearing masks in schools, and whether he was looking at any other 'additional measures to protect children'.

E-commerce powerhouse Alibaba, which became China's first regulatory target late last year, is expected to post a 12% decline in profit in the quarter.

Revenue will likely rise 32%, the slowest in a year.

These truly heart-breaking accounts need to be heard, so we decided to create the Menopause Mandate book, It's Beyond A Joke.  These accounts detail years of devastating symptoms, disastrous effects on relationships and jobs, crushing anxiety and thoughts of suicide.

It was incredibly helpful to me during the pandemic's early days, converting an old HP netbook that could barely function under the weight of Windows 10 into a Chromebook capable enough for schoolwork online through Google Classroom and other services. However, the current version of CloudReady Home Edition is still available.

'I went further, because I looked at the evidence from the UK Health and Security Agency, and of course some of the work we did in the department, doing observational studies of schools which had used masks in the classroom, so further than just in communal parts.

Not to mention the fact that menopause can also mean broken relationships and lost careers — the Fawcett Report, Menopause And The Workplace, found that one in ten women leaves their job because of symptoms.  There is already a very real financial cost of menopause, but if you can't afford to heat your house or feed your family, how can you find the money for HRT prescription charges?

Until then, you can download and use an early version, though the company cautioned that you should expect bugs while it's improving the system. Google acquired Neverware in December 2020, and in February 2022 it announced the first public fruits of that acquisition: Chrome OS Flex, a more robust version of CloudReady that's still free for home use. At that time, computers already running CloudReady will automatically update to Chrome OS Flex. A stable release of Chrome OS Flex is expected to roll out in the second quarter of 2022.

While the chips sector is already bracing for waning demand as red-hot inflation squeezes spending, Taiwan faces a tougher situation - sandwiched between its largest export market China and its main international backer and arms supplier, the United States - especially as Beijing steps up military pressure to force Taipei to accept Chinese sovereignty claims.

Beijing has reasserted control over its once-freewheeling internet sector, punishing well-known names for engaging in what were previously considered regular market practices and drafting new rules to change how they compete and engage users.

And although Neverware has paid versions for enterprise and education users, its Home Edition is free for personal use. You don't get tech support, and it can't be managed with the Google Admin console, but again: free. CloudReady looks and feels nearly identical to Chrome OS, but it can be installed on nearly any laptop or desktop, whether Windows or Mac.

CloudReady will live boot from the flash drive and you can use the OS just as if it was installed on the computer. Plus, this way I still have the original Windows install if I need it for some reason. Or you can wipe your internal drive and install it. I just removed the old hard drive -- a few screws and a cable -- and replaced it with the SSD, and then booted from the flash drive again. Instead of overwriting my laptop's old drive, I simplified the process by slipping in a $35 120GB Kingston SSD. You can keep using it that way, too, though it will slow down the performance.

SHANGHAI, Nov 8 (Reuters) - China's biggest listed companies Tencent and Alibaba are expected to report a fall in profits and slowing revenue growth in the July-September quarter, hurt by the year-long regulatory crackdown that has upended its tech industry.

While Liu did not make direct mention of it, the sweeping set of export controls announced by the United States this month, aimed at slowing China's progress in advanced chip manufacturing, is expected to also impact Taiwanese chipmakers.

at least, not the same way that you're able to install the latest Windows OS or a version of Linux. Google's Chrome OS isn't available for consumers to install, but you can get the next best thing: Neverware's CloudReady Chromium OS.  Do a web search for "how to install Chrome OS on a laptop" or anything like that and you likely discovered that it can't be done...
