"You made these choices," one tech employee from Microsoft said. "It's not America's job to save you," wrote a third from Yelp. "Man the fuck up," another at Amazon said. Though some were supportive, many others pushed back.

Raw follows Justine, a vegetarian in her first year of veterinary school, who caves to peer pressure, eats raw meat and winds up with a rash all over her body. Raw (2016)

After viewing this film, you might just have a new favorite female director in Julia Ducournau. The film tackles questions of identity in a viscerally powerful and symbolic way, and is a must-see from Netflix's indie bench.

They, he said, are the "only people I heard complain." Alex Stamos, a former head of security at Facebook now teaching at the Stanford Internet Observatory, said in a series of tweets he suspects the critical comments like these inside the social networking giant were driven by young male engineers.

Berlin Syndrome (2017)

Before Black Widow, Cate Shortland made her name directing excellent indie films, including Berlin Syndrome. A cat-and-mouse game between captor and captive ensues. While it's slower-paced at times in its confined setting, Berlin Syndrome assuredly delivers a gripping thriller. This psychological horror stars Teresa Palmer as Clare Havel, a young Australian who goes backpacking in Berlin, only to meet a man who holds her captive in his apartment.

"Resilient as you are, I know working parents everywhere are under stress to juggle family obligations, including supporting kids in physical and virtual classes, with work responsibilities," Jeff Clarke, Dell's operations chief and vice chairman, wrote in a late August email to employees. "While we don't have all the answers, we're leaning into our flexible work culture to help give you more options."

Uber also told employees they're allowed to shift their workday if they're managing homeschooling for their children, for example. The world's largest ride-hailing service appears to have made some headway. In August, Uber codified policies ensuring that caregivers are allowed to skip low-priority meetings as needed and modify their work hours throughout the week. Dell isn't the only company focusing on culture.

The Nightingale follows a young female convict seeking revenge in the 1825 Australian bush. With that in mind, proceed with this harrowing story and you'll see an important slice of history rarely told on screen. The Nightingale (2018)

A warning: The Nightingale depicts extreme graphic scenes of violence and rape. The second film from Jennifer Kent, who directed the mighty The Babadook, is a force to be reckoned with.

I typically enjoy horror films that rely on performances to unnerve you, because they're incredibly difficult to pull off. And I've got to give it to Mark Duplass. He is, in fact, super creepy. Creep (2014)

If you're looking for further proof the Duplass brothers are actually evil, here's an easy sell. Patrick Brice (also the director and co-writer) plays a videographer answering a Craigslist ad for Josef (Mark Duplass), who wants to make a movie for his supposed unborn child.

Facebook ranked worst, with 83 perecent of parents expressing those concerns. In Blind's July survey, the number jumped to 62% among Silicon Valley parents. At Apple and Google, it was 65%. At Microsoft it was 60%. At Amazon, it was 76% of parents.

The consequences are harrowing on multiple levels (if you don't like rats, you really won't like them after this). Thomas Jane, who you'll also know from Boogie Nights and 2004's The Punisher, gives one of his career best performances as the ever proud Wilfred James, a farmer who makes the totally wise decision to murder his wife with the help of their teenage son. 1922 (2017)

One of the more successful Stephen King adaptations, this horror drama based on the novella 1922 is a slow-burn with a mesmerizing performance at its core.
