Apple Inc fell 1% in premarket trading after a report of iPhone 14 Plus production cut within weeks of starting shipments, while other growth stocks Tesla Inc, Amazon.com and Alphabet Inc struggled to gain, rising just 0.2% to 0.3%.

As streaming's popularity has grown with consumers, so too has competition for their subscription dollars. The deal has apparently given Amazon an edge in the so-called streaming wars. In the past two years, a stream of media giants and tech heavyweights have launched their own rivals to Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, with new services including Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, HBO Max and Peacock.

United Airlines Holdings Inc gained 6.3% as the U.S. carrier posted its strongest quarterly earnings in three years.

The only other phone Samsung announced Thursday for the US market is a 4G LTE-only version of the Samsung Galaxy A13. The phone will be sold by Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T, as well as online carriers.
